Capture the moment
Dependable autofocus system
Phase Hybrid AF
The most important thing with autofocus is to be dependable. It’s all about how quickly and faithfully you can capture the subject. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX G9II is the first LUMIX G series camera to offer the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, delivering accuracy even in backlit or low-light environments.
・Firmware update with improved AF performance during zoom is planned for H-RS100400 and H-ES12060, to be made available in October 2023 from the customer support page.
Advanced detection AF
Human/Animal/Car/Motorcycle
The LUMIX G9II’s advanced detection AF pushes the envelope on of sports, wildlife, and car/motorcycle photography. More accurate human body recognition enables you to single out a subject from among a field of athletes, for example, and shoot continuously. Other new functions include animal eye recognition and car/motorcycle recognition.
・Depending on settings, some subjects may not be recognized.
・The camera may sometimes recognize non-animal subjects as animals.
Just keep shooting
AFC 60 fps burst shooting
The new sensor’s higher readout speed and new engine’s superior processing power enable 60 fps burst shooting with AFC,* as well as burst shooting of up to approximately 3 seconds, all with the viewfinder remaining blackout-free. The sensor’s higher readout speed also minimises rolling shutter distortion and captures images that are too fast for the naked eye to process.
*Uses electronic shutter. 75 fps in AFS.
Go back in time
Pre-burst shooting
What if you could turn back time to capture a shot? With pre-burst shooting, you can. The LUMIX G9II offers advanced flexibility with a choice of 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5-second pre-burst settings. Now you’ll never miss that decisive moment, even in the most dynamic situations, from the flapping of a bird’s wings to an unexpected play on the field.
779-point AF
The number of AF points has been increased to 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue to capture even small subjects that are easily out of focus. Even when using 1-Area AF, the AF frame can be set as small as pinpoint level, helping the creator focus on the subject as intended.
AF Point Scope
Temporarily magnifies the subject to check the focus area.
MF Assist 20x
The MF Assist display has been enlarged up to 20x. Accurate focusing is possible even on tiny objects like stars.
