CurioCity Childcare

CurioCity Childcare

Andrew Page is the nursery chef for CurioCity Childcare and is responsible for catering for up to 30 children aged between three months and eight years old.  In addition, he feeds 10 nursery teachers, as well as hosting food tasters for parents and potential clients of the nursery.

With objectives listed as designing specific menus for the very young who are still developing chewing and eating skills, to pre-schoolers who are encouraged to try new flavours and textures, as well as incorporating the cultural backgrounds of the children at the nursery, Andrew’s daily challenges are many; time constraints, domestic equipment, lack of space, as well as ensuring that each child is receiving the main nutrients it needs for a healthy diet.

Andrew welcomed the opportunity to work with the Panasonic NE-C1275 combination microwave oven and over a four week period was able to cook all the nursery classics including a roast chicken, quiche, sponges, lasagne, sausage rolls, garlic bread, focaccia, roasted vegetables, homemade French fries, pizza and even a Halloween spider bread, much to the delight of the children!

“Compared to a standard microwave and even traditional cooking methods, the C1275 was reliable and consistent - especially when used to bake!  It was user-friendly and economical as I used less energy and because it is so quick, valuable nutrients are retained when cooking vegetables.  The digital timers and temperatures meant I could get on with work elsewhere with the peace of mind that all was in hand.  The meat was absolutely tender, important when cooking for children, and it was so intuitive and easy to use when training the team in its use, but the combination setting is the one that stood out for me; it’s enabled us to improve our service, enhance our menus and save time as I’m now able to prepare dishes that I would have had to use a domestic oven for before.  This oven is extremely good value for money for what it can do and is the perfect size - great output from a relatively small footprint!  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to take part in this case study; we’ve really enjoyed the benefits of such an amazing product!”
