Panasonic organize “Tree Planting Festival 2014” with the theme “Panasonic for a green Vietnam”

February 22nd 2014 , Panasonic Vietnam Co., Ltd in cooperation with Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and People Committee of Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province to organize Tree Planting Festival in Nam Thinh commune, Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province. This joint event attracts participation of over 250 people from the local community including local authorities, Youth Union and schools and 150 participants are employees from MONRE and Panasonic Vietnam.

Panasonic Vietnam organizes the tree planting activity as one of its various Eco-activities continuously carried under the Vision of becoming No.1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by 2018 - the 100 years establishment of Panasonic Corporation.

Part of the fund for this program is contributed from Panasonic Vietnam’s campaign “We love Vietnam” in 2013, in which 10.000 VND is donated to Tree planting when a customer purchases a Panasonic Tivi, washing machine or refrigerator manufactured in Vietnam. Therefore, the Tree Planting Festival this year appeals the theme “Panasonic for a green Vietnam” is also aimed to express the common sense of many Vietnamese who have participated in Panasonic program to contribute for the preservation of the environment.

30.000 casuarinas trees are planted in Cua Lan fishing port in Nam Thinh commune, Tien Hai district and handed over to Tien Hai local authority for management. This project not only creates green environment but also protect the dyke and aqua-cultural farms from storms or flood tide. It also helps to increase sedimentation rate, create food resources for aquatic species – the major income resource for poor residents living in coastal area.

At the same time, Panasonic Vietnam organizes a Eco Learning session and a Phenakisto Scope Workshop - making scientific toy by re-using papers and cardboards for pupils in Nam Thinh secondary school, in order to raise awareness of students about critical environmental problems which the world are facing such as greenhouse emission and global warming.
