Panasonic Vietnam and VEA review the results of environmental protection program in 2016

On 12th Jan 2017, Panasonic Vietnam together with VEA (Vietnam Environment Administration) held a review session on its cooperation agreement in environmental protection. The event focused on evaluating the performing results of partnership program between VEA and Panasonic Vietnam.

Attending the event had Mr. Nguyen Van Tai – the General Director of VEA, the representative of MONRE, the Panasonic Vietnam’s representatives and politic organizations as well as journalism agencies.

At the event, VEA evaluated the results of the partnership program in environmental protection activities between VEA and Panasonic Vietnam – the enterprise with active contribution and outstanding achievement in 2016.

According to the report of Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen - The Assistant General Manager Corporate Planning & Brand Promotion Panasonic Vietnam Co., Ltd: “ In 2016, both sides completed the planned activities as “The tree planting program for a green Vietnam, eco-learning class, experimental education and battery exchange campaign.”

With an aim to promote the movement between Panasonic staff and local people in greening the earth, the tree planting program attracted 342 people, grew more 20.000 trees that contributed to minimize 436 tons of CO2 every years. Over 6 years, Panasonic has attracted 2.300 people and had more than 70.000 trees grown.

Besides, Panasonic Vietnam organized 5 eco-learning programs in different provinces, helped 800 students from secondary schools and high schools discover more about climate change, eco-technology and recycling of old appliances.

With Exchange Battery Campaign, in 2016, Panasonic organized collecting un-used batteries and exchanging for Panasonic eco batteries in Yen Bai province in March, Thanh Hoa province in May, in Quang Nam province in September, Hoa Binh province in December. The result was exchanging 12.500 of which over 70% of these contained harmful metal likes lead, mercury and cadmium.

VEA appreciated all the results that Panasonic Vietnam performed in 2016. VEA will continue to collaborate with Panasonic in order to promote these activities, think of expanding “Green Label Vietnam” for some products, especially green battery, go on raising the awareness of local people in using safe products, promote the “Green Label Vietnam” program.
