Panasonic is proud to introduce the latest flagship model of the popular "Travel Zoom" TZ Series the LUMIX DMC-TZ220. Enhancing its zoom power to 15x, the LUMIX TZ220 with 1-inch large High Sensitivity MOS Sensor offers more versatile uses and high picture quality, including ultra high resolution 4K video.
        The LUMIX TZ220’s 24mm ultra wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with powerful 15x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 24-360mm) and 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+(Optical Image Stabilizer Plus)*¹ offer a versatile angle of view while suppressing hand-shake in both photo and video recording. It also enables stunning macro shots as close as 3cm. For even more creative photography, the LUMIX TZ220 integrates a new L.Monochrome mode in Photo Style, which offers impressive monochrome pictures with rich gradation like that from B/W film.
        Adoption of 1-inch MOS sensor realize high quality image recording with stunning details. The combination of the High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves max. ISO 12800 high sensitivity recording with stunning picture quality that goes beyond the limit of digital compact camera.
        The LVF (Live View Finder) is also upgraded on the LUMIX TZ220. It integrates a new 0.21-inch 2,330K-dot equiv. LVF that boasts a high magnification ratio of approximately 1.45x / 0.53x (35mm camera equivalent). Both LVF and the 3-inch rear monitor with touch control system provide an approximately 100% field of view.
        The LUMIX TZ220 records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K video in 3840x2160 at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in MP4. Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO to capture those unmissable moments at 30 fps and save in 8-megapixel high resolution photos. Auto Marking and Sequence Composition are newly added in addition to Post Focus and Focus Stacking to make 4K PHOTO even easier-to-use, in more creative way.
        The Contrast AF System features DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*² and excels in both speed and accuracy, resulting in ultra-fast auto focusing of approx. 0.1 sec*³.
        The LUMIX TZ220 includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi^® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Compatibility with Bluetooth 4.2 (called BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy) enables constant connection with a smartphone/tablet with minimum power consumption.
        Armored with aluminum plates to form a sleek, solid profile with a seamless surface from front to top, the new LUMIX TZ220 offers high durability and stable telephoto shooting thanks to hand grips at both the front and rear sides.

1. The ultimate travel zoom camera with 1-inch MOS Sensor and powerful 15x optical zoom
        The LUMIX TZ220 features new 24mm ultra wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens. The 10x optical zoom on the predecessor TZ100 is dramatically extended to a powerful 15x (35mm camera equivalent: 24-360mm). This versatile zoom range lets you capture virtually any subject, in any situation - from dynamic landscapes to distant subjects, which is especially helpful when traveling. An aspherical ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens, five aspherical lenses and three ED lenses are used for LUMIX TZ220 to achieve downsizing of the high zoom lens unit. It is difficult to align aspherical lenses due to its optical characteristic, however, Panasonic’s Black Box technologies in optics and mechanical design make it possible to adopt munificent aspherical lenses while maintaining high optical performance.　Passing Leica's stringent standards, LUMIX TZ220 boasts exceptional optical performance with stunning clarity with minimum distortion and flare. This new lens system also enables stunning close-up shots with it 3cm macro capability.
        The LUMIX TZ220 incorporates 1-inch large High Sensitivity MOS Sensor with 20.1-megapixel high resolution. This large MOS Sensor improves S/N ratio, resulting in dramatic reduction of noise even in shooting at ISO 12800. Rich amount of light help produces impressive defocus with shallow depth of field. The image processor Venus Engine with quad-core CPU enables high speed signal processing required for rich video recording such as 4K. The advanced Multi-process NR (Noise Reduction) applies effective noise reduction and detail processing according to each component frequency. Plus, Random Filter granulates chromatic noise to be blended into the image even more naturally. As a result, the max. ISO 12800 is achieved. The aperture filter is capable of controlling over wider frequency range. It adjusts the amount of sharpness according to the frequency level, giving rich depth. Taking advantage of these fine tuning capability, LUMIX TZ220 enables users to choose a preset of contrast, sharpness, saturation and noise reduction as they like according to the shooting subject in Photo Style. Notably, L Monochrome is a new option added to the Photo Style, making it possible to shoot impressive monochrome photo with deep black and rich gradation like that of a B/W film.
        The combination of the large MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves stunning picture quality going beyond the limit of digital compact camera.

2.Evolution in the Live View Finder – for ultra telephoto 360mm and intuitive control
        The LUMIX TZ220 integrates a new 0.21-inch 2,330K-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder). Both the sensor and the LVF are in 3:2 aspect to boasts high magnification ratio of approximately 1.45x / 0.53x (35mm camera equivalent). The image output between the LVF and the rear monitor is switched automatically with the eye sensor on the LVF.
        Adopting a static-type touch control system, the 3.0-inch rear monitor in 3:2 aspect with 1,240K-dot high resolution features approximately100% field of view. The touch-control system immediately lets users set focus on the subject simply by touching the screen and releasing the shutter. It is free and easy to enlarge the target point with fingertips to set precise focus.
         The independent dials and the Control Ring located on the lens barrel provide an intuitive way to capture your creative vision with ease and precision. Smoother control of exposure and zoom allows you to concentrate on framing the perfect picture and pressing the shutter at the perfect moment. It also provides easier access to frequently-used settings such as aperture, shutter speed, focus, filter effect, and scene mode.
        For even more precise control over focusing, the LUMIX TZ220 also boasts a Focus Peaking function that shows the peak of focus in manual focus mode, so you can be sure where exactly the focus is.

3 .4K capability bringing the evolution in videography/photography – 4K video and 4K PHOTO
        Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO with LUMIX TZ220. With the 4K PHOTO, users can capture the fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps in 8-megapixel equivalent resolution by extracting a frame of the most photogenic timing out of the 4K burst file to save as a photo. Three exclusive functions are integrated to make the 4K photography even easier; 4K Burst Shooting, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. The 4K Burst Shooting allows consecutive shooting at 30 fps*¹, which can be used just like a photo burst shooting.
        Choosing the best shot out of hundreds of frames recorded with 4K PHOTO is now easier with the newly added Auto Marking function. It lets you jump to the nearest frame where the differences are obvious between consecutive frames to minimize the time it takes to choose the best shot. Sequence Composition makes it possible to make a stromotion image by synthesizing multiple images shot at a fixed frame with 4K PHOTO. A unique image reflecting the subject’s motion can be produced easily in the camera without needing a special retouching process.
        The LUMIX TZ220 comes with the Post Focus function that enables users to select in-focus area even after shooting. It is helpful in situations like macro shooting where severe focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing focused subject. This function has been developed by combining the high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) auto focus technology and the 4K technology.
        Newly integrated Focus Stacking function enables users to adjust focus area after shooting by combining multiple images shot with Post Focus function in the camera. Users do not need to set severe focus during shooting but they can get the image with the defocus as they want or pan-focus image only by selecting the focus area after shooting. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots of insects, small accessories and so on.

4. High-speed, high-precision auto focus and fast response
        For even faster response and higher mobility, the LUMIX TZ220 newly integrates a dedicated linear motor into the focus system to achieve ultra high-speed AF. In addition, the Light Speed AF is further enhanced with an adoption of DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*¹ which even shortens the time to set focus. It calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating 2 images with different sharpness level at 240 fps high signal exchange speed. As a result, the LUMIX TZ220 achieves ultra high speed AF of approx.0.1 sec*². This improvement benefits more as focal length increases. The LUMIX TZ220 boasts high speed burst shooting at 10 fps (AFS) / 6 fps (AFC) to capture fast moving subject just in-focus.

5. Ultra high resolution 4K video for a lifetime memory
        The LUMIX TZ220 records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K video in 3840x2160 at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in MP4 in addition to the full-HD 1,920 x 1,080  60p / 50p(50Hz Area) videos in AVCHD Progressive or MP4 (MPEG-4 / H.264) format with practical full-time AF.
        Not only these, the LUMIX TZ220 also enables 4K Live Cropping in video recording that realizes stable panning or zooming in video recording. In panning shots, you can just set the viewing angle to start and end with to get smooth panning imagery without using a special equipment like a slider. In zooming, you can set the after-zoomed viewing angle first, so that the subject can be perfectly in the frame. Thanks to the digital operation, the imagery of zooming is smooth because it does not move zoom lens physically.
        The powerful 15x optical zoom with smooth 2-step zoom and 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+(Optical Image Stabilizer Plus)*² are available in video recording, too. The 5-Axis correction compensates for the handshake occurring in virtually any direction.
        High Speed Video enables recording subject with fast motion in FHD at 100 fps (60Hz Area), while Time Lapse /Stop Motion Animation are also available.

6. Other features
Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz (IEEE802.11b/g/n)
The LUMIX TZ220 integrates Bluetooth and Wi-Fi® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Once the camera is connected to a smartphone or tablet installed with Panasonic's dedicated application software Panasonic Image App for iOS / Android, users can shoot, browse and share images remotely. Users can choose the picture quality of the photos to transfer using Image App. Compatibility with Bluetooth 4.2 (called BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy) enables constant connection with a smartphone/tablet with minimum power consumption. This enables the camera to activate by simply using a smartphone/tablet or to add GPS geotag on the photos automatically.
･Long battery life and AC/USB Power Charging
Thanks to the newly adopted eco30fps mode, the LUMIX TZ220 boast long battery life of approx. 370 pictures (when using a rear monitor) per charging. The camera’s battery can be recharged either via AC or via USB according to the users’ convenience.
･Exposure / WB / Focus / Aperture Bracket
In LUMIX TZ220, Focus Bracket and Aperture Bracket are new additions to conventional Exposure Bracket and WB Brackets for users to choose best shot later. In Focus Bracket, max.999 images can be shot with different focus points. The Aperture Bracket lets users have multiple shots with different depth of field.

The LUMIX TZ220 is capable of shooting images in RAW and develop them in camera.
