Panasonic Ushers in a New Era with
The Opening of Three New Facilities

Shah Alam, 7 December 2018 – In conjunction with Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Berhad’s (PMMA) 50 years establishment in Malaysia together with its 100th anniversary celebration, the Management and employees of Panasonic celebrate the completion of three new facilities - Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Berhad (PMMA), Panasonic Appliances Research & Development Centre Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (PAPRADAP) and Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PAPAMY), through “Towards a New Era” grand opening ceremony.

The official part of event starts with a journey through time from Panasonic’s beginnings and the 50-year-long journey of the company in Malaysia, where all guests could see the exciting changes await at the new facilities.

Chief Executive Officer & Senior Managing Executive Officer of Panasonic Corporation, Tetsuro Homma said in his welcoming speech, “For the past 100 years, Panasonic has incessantly strived to create a convenient, comfortable and safe society. Today, Panasonic as one of the leading consumer electronics brands in the world, embarks on a new era that strives even more for sustainable living and advanced technological innovation.” He added, “And for the next 100 years, Panasonic will engage in and realise our vision of ‘One-to-one Lifestyle Updates’ where we will evolve from ‘Individual-oriented’ to ‘Lifestyle-oriented’, and create lifestyles for the next century.”

Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Tuan Amirudin bin Shari, who was invited to officiate the new buildings, congratulates Panasonic on advancing to the next phase of growth and innovation with its latest expansions. “In years to come, we are expecting the company to fully utilise its ground-breaking technology and exceptional engineering expertise to deliver innovation across diverse industries in all fields, creating a better day-to-day experience for its customers”, said YAB Tuan Amirudin bin Shari in his speech. “And with it also established as a Malaysian company, we would like to see Panasonic championing economic growth and creating job opportunities right here in the local economy,” he added.

Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dr Ong Kian Ming then appears on the stage, noting Panasonic for its contribution towards international trade and economic growth in Malaysia. “Panasonic, being one of the largest consumer electronics manufacturers in Electrical & Electronics (E&E) industry is one of the key economic growth leaders for Malaysia with its increasing contribution towards the national export. Witnessing the opening of Panasonic’s new R&D arm (PAPRADAP) and warehouse & logistic hub (PAPAMY), I wish Panasonic much success ahead, and that the company will continue to provide positive outlook and prospect for Malaysia’s economy”, he said.

The opening of new facilities heralds Panasonic’s progression to a whole new era of growth in local and Asia’s consumer electronics industry. Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Berhad’s (PMMA) - New Administration Building

A guided tour of the new 90,675-square-foot facility introduces all guests and visitors to its innovative and sustainable design concepts. This 3-storey building consists of two Panasonic companies, with PMMA’s new administration office occupying the first floor, and PAPADRAP’s new R&D centre located on the second floor.

With its relocation to the new office building, PMMA aims to provide an open space where its people could work together in an atmosphere that inspires collaboration, improves productivity and sparks innovation. Our new facility features a modern and sustainable design and it is meant to attract people who want to help make the world a better place. With this, PMMA aspires to pioneer the industry and become the number one “Small Home Appliance Factory in Asia for Panasonic Corporation” where the most intriguing technology can be designed to meet or exceed the expectation of customers.

Panasonic Appliances Research & Development Centre Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (PAPRADAP) - New R&D Centre

Housed at the same building with PMMA, the new state-of-the-art R&D centre at Panasonic Appliances Research & Development Centre Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (PAPRADAP) will act as the forefront where the greatest innovation and creativity will be practised to the maximum extend to help realise the electronics lifestyle of tomorrow. With its new R&D lab building employing nearly 120 industry expertise, PAPRADAP will continue to contribute to lifestyle innovation in Asia while enhancing our local R&D capability and productivity by localising Japan’s advanced technology and accelerating new product and solution development.

Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PAPAMY) – New Warehouse & Logistic Hub

Strategically located between PAPAMY factory and port, our new fully integrated distribution centre at Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PAPAMY) spanning over 738,000 square feet of a massive space comprises 48 loading bays, sufficient for the accommodation of 130 containers at one time, will centralise its logistic operation from multiple warehouse under one roof. As we mark the beginning of our new fully integrated distribution centre at Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PAPAMY), this company will play a major role in contributing to the growth of local economy with its 46 years of operation experience and increasing annual export growth to more than 120 countries worldwide. 

With this new milestone achieved, the grand opening of Panasonic’s new facilities paves the way for research and development, next-generation innovation, sustainable household appliance, business-to-business solution and new cutting-edge products onboard to deliver customer values and improve quality of life.
