Which Type of Washing Machine Is the Best?

Requires less water but more time. Uses tumbling action where the drum rotates and stops to lift and drop clothes. This helps minimise tangling of clothes and damage to fabric.

Requires more water but less time. Uses spinning action, where the washing machine stirs the water, to make items rub against each other.

Front-loaders are recommended if you want to save time and effort on drying. They also dry clothes fluffy and soft even on rainy days.

Top-loaders are recommended if you enjoy the crisp texture of sun-dried clothes or have a separate dryer.

Front-loaders excel at removing sebum stains, such as yellowing on collars and cuffs, because they wash with a more concentrated cleaning solution, dissolving detergent in a smaller amount of water.

Top-loaders excel at removing solid stains, such as stubborn mud, because the stirred water gets items rubbing against each other.

You load and unload from the front of a front-loader, so there’s no need to lift heavy laundry out after washing. This reduces strain on your lower back.

You put clothes in and take them out from the top of a top-loader without squatting. This is less stressful on your knees.
