Panasonic Vietnam General Director New Year Message 2024

Dear all Valued Customers, Business Partners, and Colleagues,

First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to your continuous and great support to Panasonic!

After long pandemic, the world and we are still facing quite challenging economic situation in 2023, with GDP growth forecast at only 5.05 percent compared with 8 percent in 2022. But we find this is the chance for innovation to enhance our core competence and maximize our values that we bring to You as our customers and business partners. Also, I feel Thankful for all Your companionship and cooperation along the way as it gives us the motivation to move forward with our contributions.

I must say thank you particularly for Panasonic team in Vietnam for their hard working. They give me so much confidence that we can soon overcome such tough environment, because we have so many autonomous talented team members with high passion and resilience. We have gradually incorporated and enhanced D.E.I to bring our competitiveness to the next level and deliver our vision and mission of “contributing to society” by Wellness Solution for Vietnamese daily life and Wellness Society for sustainable development.

In the year 2023, we continue our efforts to bring the wellness life of Vietnamese people and society through our businesses with our strengths of people-centric technology, manufacturing experience for both B2C and B2B segment, CSR initiatives focusing on education, environment and wellness which, as we believe, are 3 pillars for the sustainable development and prosperity of Vietnam. Also this year, at the special occasion of 50 years relationship between Vietnam and Japan, we could have same direction to upgrade it to “A comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world”. We also proudly carried out many activities to enhance cultural exchange and introduce Japanese culture especially to young generations such as KWN Day (within Kid Witness News program) in cooperation with Japan Foundation, Mottainai run etc.

Particularly, despite many difficulties, we strived to realize Panasonic Green Impact, which aims to achieve net zero CO2 Emission by 2030 in Panasonic operating companies worldwide and reducing CO2 emissions by 300 million tons throughout its value chain by 2050, equivalent to 1% (*) of current global CO2 emissions. As our influence impact, we have resumed our campaign “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” season 2, with tagline “Let’s live Green, reduce carbon footprints”, after the success and very positive response from youth last year. GenG – an abbreviation of Green generation – continues its long-term journey to inspire people, especially youth on the topic. In another initiatives, we re-started our largest-scale tree planting program in Vietnam, with participation of partners and customers across the country.

Heading for 2024, we are determined to keep on with our Passions and actions for our growth and contribution to Vietnam. Although unfavorable conditions may remain, Panasonic will never stop moving forward on our “next 50 years Wellness Journey” to contribute to the Vietnamese Wellness life and Wellness Society, and it is our great honor to be a part of Vietnam - Japan Strategic partnership as a trusted Japanese brand.

At the special year of Dragon, like a rising Dragon (“Thăng Long”), we do hope that all of our stakeholders can have very special year to show another growth and prosperity.

Taking this chance, I wish you and your family a Happy, Wellness, and Prosperous New Year!

Your sincerely,
Marukawa Yoichi

Yet, while container ships release an annual average of 140 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, bulk carriers contribute a total of 440 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year (source: How Much Does the Shipping Industry Contribute to Global CO2 Emissions?
