Taiwanese Braised Minced Chicken
Choosing lean meat or poultry is a good low-fat choice alternative to commonly used ground beef. Furthermore, making your own gravy can reduce the calories and saturated fat by eliminating most of the fat. In this way, it can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, high blood cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
Heat up the sesame oil in a frying pan, sauté the shallots, garlic and ginger till fragrant.
Add in the star anise and minced chicken. Continue sauté until the chicken is fully cooked. Then add in the mushrooms and cook for another 1 minute.
Add in the dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, oyster sauce rock sugar, white pepper, Chinese five spice powder and 1 cup of water and bring to a boil.
Simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, continue stirring from time to time and add more water if needed.
Braise till the gravy thicken but not dry out. Turn off heat and let cool slightly. Serve with white rice, noodle, touhu, omelette and etc.
For extra braised chicken, place it into airtight containers and put into Prime Freeze compartment. Press Rapid Freezing function (60 mins).
Remove from Prime Freeze compartment and store in normal freezer compartment.
