No Raya is complete without the classic glutinous rice and coconut milk dish, lemang, and this recipe is an easy one made with Cubie. It is best when eaten with any rich curry or rendang dish.

  • 500 gglutinous rice, soaked for 4 hrs then drained
  • 120 mlcoconut milk
  • 360 mlwater
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1½ tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • Banana leaves, scalded

Method

STEP 1

Combine coconut milk, water, oil, salt and sugar.

STEP 2

Place glutinous rice into Panasonic Jar Rice Cooker (SR-ZX185).

STEP 3

Pour coconut milk mixture and stir. Then cover.

STEP 4

Select menu select “Quick” and set rice to “Long Grain” and press start. When done, allow to cool slightly.

STEP 5

Grease a cylinder mould with some oil.

STEP 6

Press glutinous rice into mould and compress the rice with a rolling pin (or other similar object).

STEP 7

Shake to remove glutinous rice, wrap with banana leaves (1 piece, going round rice cylinder in 3 layers).

STEP 8

Put the lemang on a tray and place into Panasonic Cubie Oven.

STEP 9

Set mode to “Convention – No Preheat” at 220 C and bake for 10-12 minutes or until banana leaves turn brownish.
