The LUMIX story, which already featured numerous world premieres, reached another high point in 2014: the DMC-GH4, the first hybrid Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera which can record 4K videos was unveiled.

4K PHOTO, added in the firmware update, allows you to extract high quality photos with approximately 8-megapixel (equivalent to A4 print  size) at 30 frames per second from 4K video. This extremely important feature for professional videographers is useful for photographers too.

The DFD (Depth from Defocus) technology which was developed by Panasonic was another brand-new feature which premiered in this top LUMIX model, the DMC-GH4.

This further development of the classic Contrast AF system offered noticeably better performance for photos and videos and is used in LUMIX cameras to this day.
