I’m a qualified trichologist and hair replacement specialist with over 15 years’ experience in the industry. As a trichologist, I specialise in the science of human hair and scalp - its function, structure and overall health. What trends have you noticed recently when it comes to hair health?
There is a big trend in the market in which people are paying more attention to their scalp and the overall condition from the hair from inside out. Hence I have seen a rise in the market for clients looking to have a more in-depth analysis of their scalp and more meticulous advise vaping from the lack of nutrients and vitamin level to their genetic predispositions.

Hair loss is also a big trend at the moment as I have seen a 60% increase on consultations due to hair loss. A lot of my clients have also suffered from hair loss due to stress and long Covid - so I believe is a good trend to talk about. Additionally we can talk about keeping your hair healthy by controlling the heat and using natural products and ingredients to look it after. For example, rice water is very trendy at the moment to keep your hair healthy, or doing your homemade avocado masks.

What actually is healthy hair, and how can you maintain it?
You can analyse your hair’s health by searching for some signs. For example, healthy hair has good elasticity, minimal breakage and is shiny and smooth.If your hair is dry to the touch, dull and breaks easily, it is likely your hair isn’t healthy.

There are many factors that contribute to our hair health. Our hair endures many daily stressors which can impact this, such as colouring, brushing, weather conditions and the use of heated tools.

To maintain a healthy hair, you need to have a healthy haircare routine. This covers everything from using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type, to investing in the right hair tools to avoid damaging your hair whilst styling it, and even eating a balanced diet including key ingredients such as Omega 3 and Biotin.
